India presented its rich culinary traditions during the state visit of Vietnam President To Lam by serving a special menu featuring well-known delicacies from Bihar and Maharashtra. The carefully curated dishes highlighted India’s regional food diversity and included several products with Geographical Indication (GI) recognition, reflecting the country’s unique cultural and agricultural heritage.
Traditional specialties from Bihar such as Silao Khaja, Gaya Anarsa, Mithila Makhana, and Hajipur Malbhog bananas were included in the menu to showcase the state’s famous local flavours. Maharashtra’s renowned Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes were also served alongside nutritious millet-based snack bars, representing the growing popularity of healthy and sustainable food products in India.
The inclusion of millet snacks drew attention to India’s efforts to promote millets as nutritious and climate-resilient grains. Prepared using millets cultivated in regions of Maharashtra, the snacks demonstrated how traditional grains are being incorporated into modern food products. The menu was designed to reflect India’s diverse food culture while also highlighting the importance of traditional agriculture and regional specialties during the high-level diplomatic visit.
