Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi has emphasised the need to improve women’s healthcare, strengthen education, and encourage millet farming during a review meeting held in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh under the Aspirational District Programme. The minister highlighted the importance of creating greater awareness about women’s health issues, particularly cervical and breast cancer, and urged health officials to focus on early detection, proper record maintenance, and timely medical support.
During the discussions, attention was also given to improving the quality of education in the district. The minister encouraged authorities to provide better training opportunities for teachers and strengthen learning facilities in schools. Officials informed the meeting that several schools had already received digital learning boards with support from public sector organisations, and additional institutions would be included in the coming phases.
Suresh Gopi also stressed the importance of promoting millet cultivation in the region. He described millets as nutritious, climate-friendly crops that can support both food security and sustainable agriculture. The minister advised officials to ensure that farmers receive the benefits of government schemes and support programmes aimed at improving agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
The meeting also included discussions on tourism development and healthcare infrastructure in the district. The minister encouraged local authorities to prepare for upcoming tourism initiatives that aim to develop sustainable destinations across the country. He later visited the district hospital in Namsai to review healthcare facilities and assess the progress of ongoing services and development efforts.
