Dr. Jacqueline d’Arros Hughes, former Director General of ICRISAT, will become Secretary General of the World Agriculture Forum in November 2024. With over 30 years of experience in agricultural research and development, she is known for her work in food security, sustainable agriculture, and dryland farming.

A plant virologist trained at the University of Reading, Dr. Hughes has promoted innovation through digital agriculture, remote sensing, and gender-inclusive approaches. She also played a key role in global initiatives such as the International Year of Millets and G20 agriculture discussions.
