Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition Biology at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, received the Special Appreciation Award at the conference “Frontiers in Nutrition: Challenges and Opportunities for a Healthier Tomorrow,” held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on February 15, 2025. This honor was bestowed upon him in recognition of his outstanding research on the “probiotic pearl millet-based rabadi beverage,” which he presented during the conference.
Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of CUH, congratulated Dr. Ashwani Kumar on this remarkable achievement and encouraged the SHRI millet project team to maintain their dedication to impactful research. Prof. Suneel Kumar (Registrar), Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta (Dean, SIAS), Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma (Dean Research and Director of the R&D Cell), and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma (Head of the Department of Nutrition Biology) also commended the researchers for their valuable contributions toward promoting millets for sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Kumar’s research focuses on exploring the structural, functional, and nutritional properties of millets—both processed and unprocessed—and developing innovative millet-based food products to maximize their health potential. In line with this, Dr. Ashwani Kumar and Dr. Anita Kumari are leading a project titled “Development of Millet-Based Food Products: Optimization, Characterization, and Validation” under the SHRI Cell’s millet program, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Dr. Kumar serves as the Co-Principal Investigator, while Dr. Kumari leads as the Principal Investigator.
