India has proposed to celebrate the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets, considering millets as the center of global cereals.
The primary reason for this significant initiative is attributed to Shri Khader Valli, who has been emphasizing the importance of millets such as rice, finger millet, pearl millet, sorghum, and foxtail millet, and reintroducing their importance to the world.

Through these, they directly aim to resolve many health problems ranging from minor illnesses like low fever, BP, and diabetes to major health problems such as cancer.

The Millet Year Grand Startup Challenge, initiated by the Government of India, aims to encourage the cultivation and consumption of millets. This challenge invites startups with innovative ideas to utilize millets in various applications, including food products, beverages, and other sectors.

For our Telugu states we have started the Millets News portal to explain in detail about the use and scope of millets. The Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) director, Mrs. Tara Satyavathi, has launched this portal.
