A new café in Guwahati is introducing a healthier way of eating by focusing on millets and mindful living. Named True Ritual, the café offers a menu made entirely from millet-based ingredients, with no refined flour or sugar. This concept is quite different from most cafés in the city, which usually depend on maida and sugary foods.
The idea for the café came from the founders’ personal health experiences, especially while dealing with conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. They found it difficult to get healthy and suitable food options locally, which inspired them to create a space that supports better eating habits. What started as a personal need gradually developed into a business focused on health and wellness.
Millets are at the heart of the café’s offerings because they are naturally gluten-free and packed with nutrients. The founders aim to reintroduce these traditional grains in a modern way, showing that millets can be both healthy and tasty. Their goal is to change how people see millets—from simple staple foods to attractive and nutritious meal choices.
Even though many people are used to refined and sugary foods, the café has been receiving encouraging feedback. The team is also working to educate customers about the benefits of mindful eating and healthier ingredients. While the prices may be slightly higher than regular cafés, they reflect the quality and effort that go into preparing these specialised, health-focused dishes.
