Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has planned a series of 10 training programmes on post-harvest technologies for the first quarter of 2026–27. The initiative is aimed at strengthening skills in processing, value addition, and efficient management of agricultural produce.
These programmes will be conducted by the university’s specialised centre focusing on post-harvest practices. The sessions are designed to address key challenges such as reducing losses after harvest, improving storage, and enhancing the quality and shelf life of farm produce.
Participants will receive hands-on training across a range of areas, including food processing techniques, preparation of ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products, bakery items, and innovative millet-based foods. The practical approach is intended to help individuals convert raw agricultural materials into value-added products suitable for the market.
The training is open to farmers, aspiring entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and others interested in starting or expanding food-based businesses. By building technical knowledge and practical skills, the programmes aim to support income generation and promote small-scale enterprises in the agri-food sector.
This initiative highlights the growing importance of post-harvest management in agriculture. By focusing on value addition and reducing wastage, TNAU is working to improve profitability for producers while meeting the increasing demand for processed and convenient food products.
Overall, the programme reflects a broader effort to link agricultural production with market opportunities through innovation, skill development, and sustainable practices.
