TGGCC and Nutrihub Introduce Millet Snacks Aimed at Public Health

The Telangana Girijan Co-operative Corporation Limited (TGGCC) has unveiled a new line of millet-based snacks under the brand 'Giri Nature', featuring Honey Millet Cookies and Honey Chikki. The launch event took place at DSS Bhavan in Masab Tank, Hyderabad, and was attended by Shri A. Sharat, Secretary of Tribal Welfare, Government of Telangana, and Dr. B. Dayakar Rao, CEO and Director of Nutrihub, ICAR–IIMR.

This initiative aims to empower tribal communities by utilizing forest-collected Girijan honey in these nutritious snacks, thereby promoting both health and economic development. The products are designed to enhance children's health, particularly in government schools, by providing essential vitamins and minerals through tasty, gut-friendly options. The project has received support from Telangana's leadership, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Seethakka, and TGGCC Chairman Kotnak Thirupathi.

Dr. B. Dayakar Rao and his team at Nutrihub have conducted extensive research to ensure the snacks meet high nutritional standards, aligning with the broader goal of integrating tribal produce into mainstream markets while fostering societal well-being
