CISF Organises Millet Mela to Promote Healthy Eating and Nutrition

 

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Unit ASG Thiruvananthapuram organized a Millet Mela on Saturday to spread awareness about the health and environmental benefits of millets as a sustainable food. The event was well-attended by CISF officers and their families. The Millet Mela was officially opened by Rahul Bhatkoti, Chief Airport Officer at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, and Abhishek Choudhary, Senior Commandant/CASO of CISF Unit ASG Thiruvananthapuram.

The Millet Mela featured a wide range of millet-based dishes made by CISF staff and their families, showcasing the versatility of this ancient grain. From millet porridge to traditional dishes, the event offered a tasty and healthy experience. Experts in nutrition and agriculture spoke about the health and environmental benefits of millets, highlighting their role in improving food security, especially through sustainable farming.

Along with the food, the event included live cooking demos, talks, and workshops on how to use millets in everyday meals. There was also a weapons demonstration, where CISF personnel showed different firearms to highlight the force’s readiness and skill. Additionally, a BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad) equipment demonstration was held, offering insights into the safety measures and techniques used by the force.
