N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has introduced a new millet-based food menu called Araku Kouni. The menu was launched during the Collectors’ Conference held at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi.
The Araku Kouni menu features traditional tribal dishes made using millets grown in the tribal areas of Araku Valley, located in Alluri Sitarama Raju District. The aim of this initiative is to promote the traditional foods of tribal communities and bring their millet-based dishes to a wider audience.
The menu includes several local recipes such as Korra Payasam, Ragi Chapati, Samala Pulihora, Kantla Ambali, Corn Vada, and Toor Dal Curry. These dishes reflect the food culture and cooking traditions of tribal people living in the Araku region.
The state government said the initiative will encourage people to eat healthier foods made from millets. It is also expected to support tribal farmers by creating more demand for the millets they grow. The programme was developed with support from the district administration, tribal Anganwadi workers, the Indian Culinary Institute, and the tourism department.
