Fatty Liver Disease Can Be Prevented and Reversed with Healthy Habits and Millets, Says JP Nadda

Union Health Minister JP Nadda stated that fatty liver disease, a growing health concern, can be prevented and reversed by adopting a healthy lifestyle and incorporating millets into the diet. Speaking in New Delhi on April 21, 2025, Nadda explained that eating nutritious foods like millets, exercising regularly, and limiting alcohol can keep the liver healthy.

He encouraged people to include millets, such as ragi, jowar, and bajra, in their meals, cut down on junk food, stay active, and maintain a healthy weight to avoid non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Nadda also emphasized that early check-ups and following medical advice can significantly improve liver health.

The minister called for greater efforts to educate people about the risks of fatty liver disease and the benefits of simple lifestyle changes, including the use of millets, highlighting the government’s commitment to better public health.
