Millets Highlighted as Superfood for Food Security
A major point of discussion was PM Modi's emphasis on millets as a powerful superfood. He urged CARICOM nations to increase millet production as part of efforts to improve food security and combat malnutrition, aligning with the UN's declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
In a bid to strengthen educational ties, Modi announced 1,000 scholarships for CARICOM citizens over the next five years, empowering the youth and providing them with greater access to opportunities for higher education.
Mobile Healthcare Units and Sports Development Initiatives
India also pledged to support healthcare infrastructure in remote areas by establishing mobile hospitals. Additionally, the country launched training programs for female cricket players, promoting sports and advancing gender equality in the region.
The seven-pillar framework includes collaborative initiatives in technology, climate resilience, and cultural exchange. Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to building stronger ties with CARICOM nations, focusing on joint efforts to tackle both regional and global challenges.
This summit underscored India's commitment to working with Caribbean nations to create a sustainable and shared future through collaboration and mutual growth.
