Commodore (Retd) Rajiv Ashok, Managing Director of NERAMAC, shared that millet has become known as India’s ‘golden grain’ because of its growing popularity for its health benefits and increased production.

He highlighted that the Indian government has recently boosted its support for millets, which contributed to 2023 being recognized worldwide as the International Year of Millets.

“This event is aimed at spreading the word about how healthy millets are and encouraging farmers to grow more of them,” he said.

Loken Das, Chief General Manager (Assam) of NABARD, commended NERAMAC for its significant contributions to agriculture and horticulture, especially in promoting millets.

“Millet is truly a ‘superfood,’ and working together with NABARD, NERAMAC, and the state government will provide great benefits to farmers,” he added.
