Deti Raj Kumar and his brother-in-law, Dagam Srinivas, have opened Sakshinya Mom's Millet Tiffin Centre, a new eatery that focuses on millet-based meals. It's conveniently located near Medlife Hospitals in Mancherial.

Deti Raj Kumar and his brother-in-law, Dagam Srinivas, both experienced chefs and hotel management graduates, have launched Mancherial’s first millet-based tiffin center. Their new business not only encourages healthier eating but also provides job opportunities for the local community.

Originally from Chintaguda village in Kaghaznagar, Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, Raj Kumar and Srinivas worked as chefs in various Hyderabad restaurants for about 15 years. After losing their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they moved to Mancherial in search of new opportunities. On July 3, they opened Sakshinya Mom’s Millet Tiffin Centre near Medlife Hospitals.

Our goal is to introduce millet-based breakfast options to local food lovers and promote healthier eating. We've also created job opportunities for 10 people. After spending a year researching different millet dishes, we decided to launch this business,” Raj Kumar and Srinivas told Telangana Today.

They shared that at first, they offered idli and dosa made with sorghum, finger millet, and kodo millet, along with porridge made from various millets. These dishes have been popular with local food lovers. They also noticed that more people are showing interest in millets due to their many health benefits.

The duo has developed special cooking techniques for their dishes, using leaves from the moduga tree (Butea Monosperma) to aid digestion. They soak the millets for at least 10 hours before cooking. They also offer vegetable-based chutneys with their idli and dosa, avoiding high-calorie peanuts.
