The government, led by the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, is actively promoting millet cultivation. The Minister emphasized millet's versatility, highlighting its potential to provide a diverse range of food products, from traditional dishes to modern snacks. 

The district of Dhenkanal is at the forefront of this millet revival. With a current production of 22,000 quintals, the district aims to increase its output to 30,000 quintals this year. The government's initiatives, coupled with the enthusiasm of farmers and entrepreneurs, are driving this growth. Entrepreneurs are playing a crucial role in popularizing millet-based products. They are establishing millet cafes, offering innovative food items like millet cakes, pithas, tea, biscuits, cookies, puffs, and ragi sticks. These value-added products cater to a wide range of consumers, including health-conscious individuals and those seeking unique culinary experiences. The benefits of millet extend beyond its nutritional value. It is a sustainable crop that can thrive in various climatic conditions, making it a resilient choice for farmers.
