Millet Nutrition: Fueling SSB’s Fitness and Wellness Goals

In a progressive move to enhance the health and well-being of its personnel, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) recently organized a special session promoting the incorporation of millets into daily diets. This initiative aligns with the Union Home Ministry's directive to include millets in the meal plans of central armed police forces, aiming to bolster the nutritional intake of troops guarding India’s borders.

The session was led by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Khader Valli Dudekula, a distinguished scientist and advocate of millet-based nutrition. Dr. Dudekula passionately highlighted the numerous health benefits of millets, including their role in preventing lifestyle diseases and boosting overall wellness. His insights resonated with approximately 750 attendees at the SSB camp, while the event also reached personnel nationwide through video conferencing.

The event received strong support from Sandiksha, the SSB’s wives' welfare association, emphasizing the collective commitment to fostering healthier lifestyles within the force’s community. By championing millet consumption, SSB not only aligns with national health objectives but also ensures that its personnel are better equipped to fulfill their crucial roles, including guarding the unfenced borders with Nepal and Bhutan and undertaking internal security duties.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the physical resilience and overall well-being of SSB troops, setting a commendable example for other security forces across the country.
