Nand Ghar: Transforming Anganwadis into Modern Development Hubs

The Anil Agarwal Foundation’s flagship initiative, Nand Ghar, has modernized 8,044 Anganwadi centers across 15 Indian states, turning them into vibrant development hubs for women and children. These centers have already impacted the lives of over 3 lakh children and 2 lakh women by offering quality education, nutrition, healthcare, and skill development.

With an ambitious plan to build 20,000 more Nand Ghars in Rajasthan, the initiative is set to bring meaningful change to millions more across rural India.

What Makes Nand Ghar a Game-Changer?

Nand Ghar centers go beyond traditional Anganwadis. They are modern, well-equipped spaces that provide holistic support to rural communities:

  • Smart learning tools: e-learning modules, smart TVs, and interactive BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) designs
  • Safe, child-friendly facilities: clean toilets, reliable electricity, and safe drinking water
  • Nutrition support: fortified meals for children and nutritional care for pregnant and nursing mothers
  • Basic healthcare: regular health checkups and immunization services
  • Women’s empowerment: skill development programs that help women earn up to ₹10,000 per month through activities like crafts, food processing, and small businesses

Key Milestones and Innovations

  • In 2024, Nand Ghar launched a millet-based nutrition drive, distributing FSSAI-certified shakes made from millets like ragi, bajra, foxtail, and kodu. Packed with 23 essential nutrients, the shakes support healthy diets and promote India’s millet mission.
  • In March 2025, 25 Nand Ghars were inaugurated in Thane, Maharashtra, marking rapid expansion into new regions.
  • With the upcoming Rajasthan rollout, Nand Ghar aims to reach 2 million people, bringing lasting change to rural communities.
