New Funding Opportunity for Agriculture Development in Burkina Faso

The World Food Programme (WFP) has invited proposals for projects focused on improving agri-food equipment and skills in Burkina Faso. This initiative aims to support organizations that can help farmers use better tools, improve food processing methods, and reduce losses after harvesting crops.

The program is designed to strengthen food security and promote sustainable farming practices. It also focuses on training farmers and local communities so they can handle agricultural activities more efficiently. The project will be carried out in selected regions, including Boucle du Mouhoun, Hauts-Bassins, East, and Centre-East.

Key objectives of this initiative include increasing farm productivity through locally suitable equipment, improving storage systems to prevent food wastage, and encouraging better food processing techniques. Another important goal is to provide practical training and technical support to farmers and others involved in the food system.

This effort is important because many farmers rely on imported machines that are often costly and not well-suited to local conditions. By promoting locally developed solutions, the program aims to reduce dependency, improve efficiency, and support long-term agricultural growth.

Overall, the initiative seeks to empower small-scale farmers, strengthen rural livelihoods, and help communities become more resilient to challenges such as climate change and economic difficulties. It also contributes to the global goal of achieving zero hunger.
