The Bharat Mango Festival at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium brought together over 18 Union ministers, 200 MPs, and former President Ram Nath Kovind. Started 18 years ago by Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi, the festival was inaugurated by Delhi Lt. Governor V.K. Saxena. Farmers showcased more than 350 mango varieties, including popular types like Dasheri, Alphonso, Chausa, Kesar, and the special “Modi Mango.”
More than 50 farmers from states across India were honoured for their contributions to organic farming, sustainable practices, and export efforts. The event also featured expert sessions on storage, marketing, and modern technology to help farmers earn better incomes.
Adding colour to the festival were cultural performances by poets, singers, and actors, along with a millet-based lunch that promoted healthy eating under the Shree Anna campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah praised the festival for empowering farmers and celebrating India’s rich mango heritage.
