Paddy and millet production in Myagdi has increased this year compared to last year.
The Agriculture Knowledge Centre reports that paddy production is up by 5%, and millet production has risen by 2%.
Ganga Lamichhane, an agriculture extension officer at the Centre, said that not only millet but also the production of other vegetables and fruits has improved this year.
Paddy production across the district, which includes one municipality and five rural municipalities, has also grown.
The Centre says paddy was planted on 3,806 hectares of land this year, producing 13,664 metric tons. Last year, the same area produced 12,979 metric tons.
Sanjeev Bastola, the Centre's chief, explained that the increase in production is due to good weather, fewer diseases, and enough rainfall during planting and throughout the growing season.
Myagdi has a total of 30,856 hectares of land available for farming, spread over 2,297 square kilometers. Currently, 19,498 hectares of this land are being used for cultivation.
