Tamil Nadu’s Agriculture Minister, M.R.K. Panneerselvam presented the 2025 Agriculture Budget on March 15, announcing new initiatives to increase the production of oilseeds, millets, and maize.
The Tamil Nadu Oil Seed Mission will be launched with a budget of ₹108.06 crore to help the state become self-sufficient in oilseed production. The Tamil Nadu Millet Mission, with an allocation of ₹55.44 crore, aims to increase the area of cultivation, boost production, and improve processing capacity.
The government will also invest ₹40.27 crore to promote maize farming. In addition, ₹269.50 crore has been set aside for the Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme, which will be carried out in 2,338 village panchayats.
These efforts are part of the state’s plan to strengthen agriculture and support farmers.
