Following their triumphant return to New Delhi as champions of the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma and his team were warmly welcomed at the ITC Maurya Hotel in Chanakyapuri. They enjoyed a lavish Indian breakfast buffet that featured 'Cholle Bhature' and a specially crafted trophy cake, marking their extraordinary achievement.
Speaking to ANI about the special cake, Shivneet Paheja, the executive chef at ITC, described its preparation, highlighting that it was made overnight and ready by 5:30 am. The cake was meticulously decorated in the colors of the Indian cricket team's jersey and crowned with a chocolate replica of the World Cup trophy.
"The trophy, entirely made of chocolate, closely resembles the real one," Chef Paheja explained, mentioning that the idea for the cake was conceived on the day Team India clinched the championship.
The breakfast spread for the Men in Blue included a variety of popular Indian dishes tailored to their preferences. "We prepared a selection of Indian dishes frequently mentioned by the players in their interviews. Alongside 'Cholle Bhature', we served a variety of millet-based recipes. Additionally, we crafted special culinary delights and chocolates for the players, which were placed in their private rooms at the hotel," Chef Paheja elaborated.
