Uttar Pradesh Sets Millet MSP at ₹2,775 per Quintal Procurement Underway

The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for millet at ₹2,775 per quintal. Procurement operations have already begun in 33 districts, and more than 22,000 farmers have received their payments so far.

This step is part of the state’s larger coarse grains procurement program, which also includes maize and sorghum. Farmers who register through the UP Kisan Mitra app or the official portal can sell their millet directly to the government.

The move is aimed at supporting millet growers and encouraging the cultivation of nutritious grains. By guaranteeing a fair price, farmers are protected from the risks of fluctuating market rates, ensuring more stable income.

Payments are made directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, providing transparency and timely compensation. This approach also helps streamline the procurement process, making it easier for farmers to access government support.
