The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is playing a vital role in promoting India’s millet exports through targeted global initiatives such as trade fairs, international exhibitions, and promotional campaigns. In sync with the United Nations’ declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, APEDA has partnered with Indian Embassies, trade missions, and key government bodies to spotlight the health benefits and export potential of Indian millets.
These promotional activities include participation in international trade fairs, curated sampling events, exclusive millet galleries, and global buyer-seller meets. The goal is to boost global awareness, open new markets, and position India as a powerhouse in millet production and export.
A standout example of APEDA’s efforts is its strategic collaboration with Lulu Hypermarket. This alliance helps showcase and promote Indian millet-based products across Lulu’s extensive retail chain in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. By leveraging Lulu’s wide market reach, APEDA is expanding the global footprint of Indian millets and increasing consumer awareness in key international markets.
To further support global millet trade, APEDA has introduced a 24/7 Virtual Trade Fair (VTF) platform. This digital marketplace connects Indian exporters with international buyers, enabling real-time interaction and business development in the millet sector. The platform enhances accessibility and facilitates seamless trade opportunities, contributing to year-round millet export growth.
Through these focused efforts—both online and offline—APEDA is establishing India as a global leader in millet exports. By promoting the nutritional and environmental benefits of millets, and connecting Indian producers with international buyers, APEDA is ensuring that Indian millets gain the recognition and demand they truly deserve on the global stage.
