Central University of Haryana Highlights Millets’ Role in Nutrition and Health

 

Mahendergarh, 27 March 2025 – The Department of Nutrition Biology at the Central University of Haryana (CUH) organized an expert talk titled “Millets: Nutritional Benefits, Processing, and Health Implications” under the SHRI-DST funded project. The event aimed to highlight the growing importance of millets in nutrition and public health.

The invited expert, Prof. (Dr.) Beenu Tanwar from Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur, delivered an insightful lecture backed by current research aligned with the theme. She discussed the nutritional and therapeutic properties of various millets, their production, and how processing techniques impact their health benefits. Prof. Tanwar also explored the potential health implications of including millets in the daily diet.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students and faculty members, who actively engaged with the expert during the interactive Q&A session. Prof. Tanwar responded to queries and encouraged deeper academic curiosity around the subject.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, who served as the Chief Patron of the event, congratulated the department and extended his best wishes for the successful conduct of the session.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma, Head of the Department of Nutrition Biology, commended the efforts of Dr. Anita Kumari, Convenor, and Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Organizing Secretary, for successfully coordinating an event on such a timely and relevant topic.
