Unseasonal storms accompanied by strong winds have caused extensive damage to crops in Jalgaon district, hitting farmers at a critical stage just before harvest.
Initial reports indicate that crops spread over nearly 9,400 hectares have been affected, impacting more than 16,600 farmers across 13 talukas. The sudden weather shift, with high-speed winds, led to significant losses, especially as many rabi crops were almost ready for harvest.
Crops such as wheat, maize, jowar, bajra, and banana have suffered heavy damage. Among the worst-affected areas are Erandol, Parola, Bhadgaon, and Pachora, where the intensity of the storm was particularly severe.
The Agriculture Department has conducted a preliminary assessment and submitted its findings, while detailed surveys are still ongoing. Authorities are expected to evaluate the losses further and take steps to support the affected farming community.
Overall, the unexpected weather event has dealt a serious blow to farmers, raising concerns about financial losses and the need for timely relief measures.
