A delegation of 50 farmers and 20 technical assistants, selected by the Varanasi Agriculture Department, set off on a five-day educational tour to Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday. The group aims to gain insights into advanced millet cultivation and value-addition techniques at Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University as part of the Uttar Pradesh Millet Revival Programme.
Before their departure from the Agriculture Building, the delegation was flagged off by Rohanian MLA Sunil Patel. The MLA encouraged the farmers to make the most of this opportunity to acquire hands-on training and knowledge. He urged them to share their learnings with fellow farmers in the district, contributing to the broader goal of promoting and expanding millet farming.
District Deputy Agriculture Director Akhilesh Kumar Singh emphasized the significance of the tour, highlighting that the delegation would spend five days at the university, immersing themselves in both production techniques and value-addition strategies for millets.
The event was also attended by Assistant Director Rajesh Rai, Senior Assistant Ashish Prakash, ADO Agriculture Rajshekhar, Ashwini Singh, Amit Singh from FPO Tikri, and other departmental staff and FPO members.
