Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has dismissed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s allegation that the Centre has restricted incentives for paddy procurement, calling the claim “factually baseless.”
She clarified that the Central government continues to support paddy farmers through existing procurement systems and incentive structures, and that no such curbs have been imposed. According to her, the policies in place ensure that farmers receive the benefits they are entitled to without disruption.
Sitharaman further emphasized that the Centre remains committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests and maintaining transparency in procurement practices. She suggested that the concerns raised were not supported by factual evidence and may have led to unnecessary confusion.
The statement comes amid ongoing discussions between the Centre and states on agricultural support measures, highlighting the need for accurate communication on policy decisions affecting farmers.
